Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 91
Wafting from the glass with aromas of small red berries, raw cocoa and rose petal, the 2017 Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets is medium to full-bodied, melting and satiny, with a gourmand core of fleshy and succulent tannins that largely conceals its structuring tannins, balanced by an animating line of acidity.
Vinous 92
The 2017 Volnay Les Chevrets 1er Cru, not the most commonly seen Premier Cru (Nicolas Rossignol also bottles this), has an attractive bouquet with violet petals littered over bright black cherry fruit. The palate is well balanced with grippy tannin, the 30% new oak nicely integrated here, sorbet-fresh with orange zest, tangy marmalade and Indian spices surfacing towards the vibrant finish. Very fine.
