Ruby-red. Less expressive on the nose than the Griottes, offering scents of blackberry, violet, licorice and underbrush. Deep but closed today, with a powerful spine to its dark fruit, mineral and iron flavors. There’s a distinctly savory quality here that reminds me of Chambertin. A wine of power and outstanding length but very difficult to taste today and not showing its fruit.
