Meet The Winemakers

The Domaine was founded by Jacques Seysses back in 1967, when he bought Domaine Graillet and its 4.5 hectares of vines. The new domaine’s first releases were from the highly regarded 1969 vintage as Jacques sensibly sidestepped the awkward ’68 vintage.

Jacques continued to expand the domaine throughout the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s adding another 7 hectares of top sites. Then in 2005, the domaine bought Domaine Charles Thomas in a daring joint purchase with Etienne de Montille, giving them some wonderful plots in both Vosne-Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, whilst increasing the Domaine’s holdings to around 16 hectares.

Vintages like 1985 quickly established the Domaine as one of the finest around and its reputation has only grown since. Jacques’ two sons, Jeremy and Alec, and his daughter-in-law, Diana, who, somehow, also finds the time to craft some beautiful wines at the family estate in Napa (Snowden Vineyards) now run the domaine. Over the last few years, they have worked the vineyards more and more organically and biodynamically as well as significantly evolving the methods of vinification.
